Marco Island will get a new bridge

Work on the new Marco Island bridge will start in January. There will be an additional bridge built 20 feet to the west of the current bridge. When complete the existing bridge will be 2 lanes northbound and the new bridge will be 2 southbound lanes. The city of Marco Island has committed to the landscaping on the island side of the bridge and Collier County will be responsible for the landscaping on the mainland.

First-Time Homebuyer Credit Extended

Great news for Marco Island Real Estate!

The new law:

- Extends deadlines for purchasing and closing on a home.
- Authorizes the credit for long-time homeowners buying a replacement principal residence.
- Raises the income limitations for homeowners claiming the credit.

Under the new law, an eligible taxpayer must buy, or enter into a binding contract to buy, a principal residence on or before April 30, 2010 and close on the home by June 30, 2010. Marco Island Dog Park

Marco Island is finally getting a dog park for all the 4 legged creatures that wander the sidewalks in search of new smells. It is located at Mackle Park and will have its' grand opening December 5, 2009. There are 2 separate areas, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. It is great to see Marco Island becoming a more pet friendly community.

Marco Island Farmer's Market

The Marco Island Farmer's Market will be returning on November 25, 2009 at Vetrans community park. It will be open every Wednesday from 7:30 am - 2:00 pm through April. Last year there were a maximum of 40 vendors and with the new location and extra space there will be room for up to 76 vendors.
